At a regional review meeting today Gov. Sergey Zhvachkin of Tomsk Region congratulated his colleagues with a success story of the Tomsk education and research community: two national research universities – Tomsk State University and Tomsk Polytechnic University – have advanced to the list of top 15 Russian universities, his press service told Tomsk News and Information Agency.
Olga Golodets, the Deputy Prime Minister, said at the meeting of the State Duma on Wednesday that the scientific community should be fully responsible for the performance of scientific schools and set priorities in the field of engineering, medical, and other sciences.
Making a speech at the State Duma on Wednesday Olga Golodets, the Deputy Prime Minister, said that young people were isolated from the system of the Russian Academy of Science today; the first Russian members of the Academy in the Petrine era had been at the age of 20 to 25 years, and then the average age of the RAS members was more than 70 years.
For children with high motivation for education pre-universities will be established in Moscow. It was reported by the Deputy Mayor on issues of social development Leonid Pechatnikov in process of the press conference dedicated to upcoming trends of the city’s social policy.
He mentioned that the most popular universities were detected in process of anonymous polling among students of Moscow schools. In particular, one of such pre-universities will be established on the base of the Higher School of Economics.
