Introducing a draft law on RAS reform at the State Duma on Wednesday Olga Golodets, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, stated that more than half of employees on the staff of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) had no direct relationship to science; only 45,000 out of 95,000 people were academic staff.
Making a speech at the State Duma on Wednesday, Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets stated that about 56% of the RAS real estate items were not registered properly.
“According to the latest data of the Russian Federation Accounts Chamber 56% of the RAS real estate items are not even entered into the register,” said Golodets at the State Duma, where the first reading of the draft law on the RAS reform takes place.

The order “On Approval of Methodic Recommendations for Presentation by Leading Russian Universities of Reports to International Rating Agencies” was published today in the agency’s website.
The document mentions that in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation dated 7 May, 2012, No. 599, at least five Russian universities are by 2020 to be in the first hundred leading world universities in accordance with the international rating list.
